A Cleveland, Mississippi man has been sentenced to over 12 years in federal prison for distributing cocaine. Anthony Williams, also known as “Big Ant,” was convicted of selling and distributing cocaine and received a sentence of 151 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release. The sentencing took place before Senior U.S. District Judge Glen H. Davidson.
Williams was classified as a career offender due to two previous felony drug trafficking convictions.
U.S. Attorney Scott Leary commented on the case, stating, “This defendant is a repeat offender who chose to continue to commit crimes in this district, and now he is paying the price. We will continue to work with our partners to remove career criminals from our communities.”
Robert Eikhoff, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Jackson Field Office, said, “The distribution of illegal drugs that poison and destroy our communities will not be tolerated in Mississippi. The FBI and our law enforcement partners remain committed to dismantling drug trafficking operations and holding offenders accountable. The FBI would like to thank the DEA and the Cleveland Police Department for their partnership and commitment in apprehending offenders. The message is clear: if you distribute drugs in our communities, you will be apprehended and brought to justice.”
Steven Hofer, Special Agent in Charge at the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New Orleans Division, added, “Through the historic collaboration of the Homeland Security Task Force, we have removed a career drug trafficker from the streets of north Mississippi. This prosecution represents our unwavering commitment under Executive Order 14159 to protect our communities from the criminal elements that drive violence and exploit our borders.”
The investigation involved cooperation between the FBI, Cleveland Police Department, and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). Assistant U.S. Attorney Chad M. Doleac prosecuted the case.
This conviction falls under an initiative led by the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF), which was established by Executive Order 14159 with a focus on disrupting criminal cartels, gangs, transnational organizations, human smuggling rings operating both domestically and internationally. The HSTF brings together agencies such as the FBI, DEA, local police departments—including those from Cleveland—and is coordinated by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for Northern District of Mississippi.
