A Guatemalan national has been sentenced to four months in prison for unlawfully reentering the United States after being previously removed. Mario Armando Crisostomo-Crisostomo, 27, was discovered by law enforcement on April 28, 2025, in Leake County during a traffic stop. At the time, he was driving without a license or insurance.
Court records show that Crisostomo-Crisostomo had been deported from the United States in 2018 following a conviction for illegal entry in the Southern District of Texas. He was indicted by a federal grand jury on May 6, 2025.
The sentencing announcement was made by Patrick A. Lemon, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Mississippi; Eric P. DeLaune, Special Agent-in-Charge for Homeland Security Investigations in New Orleans; and Brian Acuna, Acting Field Office Director of ICE/ERO in New Orleans.
Assistant U.S. Attorney C. Brett Grantham prosecuted the case.
Homeland Security Investigations led the investigation as part of Operation Take Back America (https://www.justice.gov/dag/media/1393746/dl?inline). This initiative coordinates Department of Justice resources to address illegal immigration and target criminal organizations and violent crime through efforts such as Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
“Operation Take Back America is a nationwide initiative that marshals the full resources of the Department of Justice to repel the invasion of illegal immigration, achieve the total elimination of cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs), and protect our communities from the perpetrators of violent crime. Operation Take Back America streamlines efforts and resources from the Department’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).”
