The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Mississippi reported collecting $5,293,082.96 in criminal and civil actions during Fiscal Year 2025. Of this total, $3,100,899.34 was obtained from criminal cases and $2,192,183.62 came from civil matters. The office also worked with other U.S. Attorney’s Offices and Department of Justice components to collect an additional $1,135.59 in criminal actions.

“Two important components of justice concern punishing the offender and making the victim whole,” said U.S. Attorney Scott F. Leary. “Our restitution laws concern the latter. I want to thank our law enforcement partners who make our restitution program a success. Justice will be served.”

Additionally, asset forfeiture efforts resulted in the collection of $1,172,013 during FY 2025 by collaborating with partner agencies and divisions. Funds from forfeited assets are deposited into the Department of Justice Assets Forfeiture Fund and are used to compensate crime victims as well as support various law enforcement initiatives.
